Toronto Residents Advised to Lock up Baby Strollers

Lately I read article about baby stroller thefts in Toronto, Canada, I would like to share with you.

Bloor West Village have experienced a rash of baby stroller thefts over the past 10 months.Police say there have been six reported thefts since January. The strollers are being snatched off front porches. A man and a woman were arrested and charged in two of the cases earlier this year, which resulted in the strollers being sold online. However, their names have not been released because the investigation is ongoing.

"Don't take a chance," said Vella. "Don't leave anything valuable on verandas."Police suggest that strollers be secured or stored out of sight. When purchasing a stroller, officers recommend recording the make, model and serial number.Police believe thieves may be targeting baby strollers after a recent spike in thefts, especially in Toronto's west end. Since January, half a dozen strollers have been stolen in Toronto police 11 Division alone, which includes parts of Parkdale, High Park-Swansea and Runnymede-Bloor West Village.

Police are urging owners to secure or store strollers out of sight, as they are taken from house porches in most cases."We want to make people aware that this is in fact happening. Especially with colder snowy weather coming, you're less likely to properly store strollers," said Const. Wendy Drummond, adding that it is the more expensive makes being targeted.Of the six strollers stolen in 11 Division, a man and woman were charged earlier this year with attempting to sell two of the products online. Two other strollers were located by citizens and returned to their owners.

Police continue to investigate the thefts.

I think it is an interesting article, we can learn from it and protect our baby strollers from potential thief.
Remember, that baby strollers don't have lo-jacks! even those expensive ones.
